Scott Boehm presented a paper, Memory and Justice?: Spain 30 years after the pact of forgetting Francoist violence, at the 2008 Human Rights Center Fellows Conference at UC Berkeley on November 6, 2008.

Marcel Hénaff has been invited to participate in various events celebrating the 100th birthday of Claude Lévi-Strauss. On this occasion,  Professor Hénaff has participated in 4 radio broadcasts [Radio France Culture] and in a conference with several other writers and anthropologists in the new Ethnographic Museum on the Quai Branly (Paris).

Edwige Tamalet Talbayev organized and chaired a panel entitled The Modernist Mediterranean at the 10th Modernist Studies Association Convention in Nashville, TN, November 13-16, 2008. She also presented a position paper in the Uneven, Alternative, Multiple: Modernism's Modernities seminar. The MSA awarded Edwige a travel grant to attend the conference.

Lisa M. Thomas will present a paper at the Society of Early Americanists Conference that will take place March 4-7, 2009 in Bermuda. The paper is titled Hannah Duston: Not Just Another Captivity Narrative.
