LTTH 150 - TOPICS IN CRITICAL THEORY
Introduction to Marxist Theory
Instructor: Alex Chang
This course is intended for a general audience and will provide an introduction to Marxist theory. The first half of the quarter will be focused on Marx's texts, and the latter will be used to investigate more contemporary applications of Marxist theory. The course will be particularly focused on examining how Marx's famous statement that "It is not the consciousness of men that determine their being, but, on the contrary, their social being that determines their consciousness" has served as the basis for oppositional critiques of cultural objects.
